Services and Policies
Library Card Rules
and Regulations:
All patrons must have a
library card in their possession to check out library
materials.
To obtain a library card, please register at the
circulation desk during normal library hours. Personal
identification is required for free borrowing
privileges.
Children must be at least 5 years of age or in
kindergarten, as well as accompanied by a parent or
legal guardian to receive a library card.
Each patron must use his/her own library card or the
library card of an immediate family member.
Patrons may sign up for public access to the Internet
when registering for a library card. Written rules and
guidelines for using the Internet at the Hollidaysburg
Area Public Library are available. Please consult
library staff for further information.

Circulation Periods:
Books are circulated for a period of 28 days
with the exception of the following:
Bestsellers - 14 days
Audio-books - 14 days
Unabridged audio-books - 28 days
Videotapes - 14 days
Six videotapes may be checked out
at a time per borrowing family.
DVDS -
7 days
Two
DVDs may be checked out
at a time per borrowing family.
Selected
encyclopedias in the Children's Room 14 days.
Reference titles (R or JR)
do not circulate.
Renewals:
Patrons may renew library
materials for one additional circulation period
providing the materials are not overdue and have no
existing holds.
Lost Items:
Lost Library
Cards: Replacement cost for a lost library card
is $1.00. Once the new card has been
issued, the old one will not be recognized by the
computer system. For children, a parent/guardian
must sign on-site for replacement cards.
Lost or Damaged Materials: Patrons are
responsible for borrowed materials and will be expected
to pay for lost or damaged items. If a book is
damaged and can be rebound, the charge
will
be based on rebinding costs. If a patron loses and pays
for a book, the price of the book will be refunded if
the book is returned in good condition within three
months of payment.
Note: Parent and/or guardian holds
responsibility for a child/young adult's library card,
including all borrowed materials and/or fines, until the
child/young adult reaches 18 years of age.
Fines:
ADULT
COLLECTION
Books Audio Books, and Videos: 20¢ per day
Maximum fine: $10 per item
CHILDREN'S COLLECTION
Books and Audio Books, and Videos: 20¢ per day
Maximum fine: $5 per item
Holds and Interlibrary Loans:
Holds and
Interlibrary Loans can be requested through both
circulation
desks and through the
Blair County Multi-Library Catalog.
Brochures are available at all Blair County public
libraries.
Book Drop:
The book
drop is provided for your convenience
to allow you to return books when the library is closed.
The book drop is locked when the library is open.
